Hey John, I've responded to your questions with a new post. Thanks for asking, it made me write an explanation.

Sorry to see you go Jonny but I guess it's been free for years. I'm not sure how right you are about the coloured vinyl being poorly manufactured, gimmicky yes, expensive yes, but from what I can tell, the black vinyl has the myth, but the jury is out about the quality versus coloured vinyl. The Archive, like museums is a passion that needs the will to succeed and the realisation that the world is better place with it and with other institutions dedicated to the history of art and the peoples of the past, I have the will, if not the cash all the time. Happy New Year.

Hey Marty. I hope I have my name issue straightened out. I had subscribed using one of my aliases.

Hi Marty , good luck with your projects. I hope you don’t put everything behind a pay wall. Even if you post your daily musical choice it is something that may drag punters in to subscribe. If there is nothing, I can’t see you increasing numbers. I also hope you post info on project releases, especially the mystery project.

Happy New Year Marty, I guess this is the last blog I will read, think I picked it up in Covid times, not sure if that’s when you started it, always an enjoyable read, hope things work out for you in 2025. I don’t know how anyone can keep up with all these overpriced re-releases on vinyl, most of them are just a cash cow and poorly manufactured on gimmicky coloured vinyl. I would honestly drop trying to keep up with these. All the best, see you down the road.

My thought here is that the Archive will never generate enough income to be a viable investment. Perhaps a change of direction is warranted. Wishing you the best for the year to come.

..."which as far as the soul is concerned seems to have them keeping their heads down as they walk off the spiritual cliff as the musicians wait for the boss of Spotify to place art before commerce." Yep. That's why I continue to buy CDs (even though I have inherited my late parents' stereo with a turntable). Playing them on the stereo, reading liner notes and having something tangible that I actually own is worth the space they take up in my house :)

Marty, here's an idea: write a post to introduce yourself to people who may only know you from Under The Milky Way—what seshes are and so forth. Because I would love to point people to your writing. I'm on Bluesky these days, where there are many music nerds like me. Maybe make an account there for yourself? Cheers. More to come via email...

NEVER EVER download/put music on a phone...yuck! Always pay for a physical copy...vinyl inc your releases! All our albums are filed alphabetically in Steel Racks or other forms of storage! Dont utilize Discogs or other crap as such...as mentioned our home music library is 6000 pieces strong.and counting! VIVA vinyl!
