Today I’m happy to finally announce, the much talked about and latest release from my In Deep label, the Rock Opera by Valley Of Salt - Voice Of One Crying In The Wilderness - The Story of John The Baptist.
Valley Of Salt is the creative vehicle of Brian Stemetzki, guitarist, and singer-songwriter, with me taking the role of producer. We developed a relationship after Brian became a sessioneer looking for a creative path, and this is where we landed. Brian is an accomplished guitarist with me playing a very minor role in the actual playing (hardly at all) but with a major role in the actual sounds and with Brian, the arrangements of this most intriguing music (I do get a guest vocal spot too).
We have Jason Garner, the drummer from The Polyphonic Spree (the early home of Annie Clark of St. Vincent fame) and a whole team of renowned musicians from Dallas, Texas where the album was recorded at Pleasantry Lane Studios. This is essentially a concept album, progressive, melodic, and apart from a phantasmagorical array of vintage guitars, it boasts a powerful rhythm section, layered keyboards, piano, strings and brass - there are also real Texan Gospel singers.
You can check out the album on Bandcamp where a CD is available for purchase or download, or you can stream it in all the usual places to get a taste of what it is. We are expecting to have a vinyl double album in the future as demand increases and if you see the reviews on Brian’s website we expect there to be a lot of interest in the vinyl version. The artwork is also very beautiful and works a dream on both CD and LP format.
