Today the stereo men came by (there were two of them) Renato and Paolo, sound experts for stereo systems, but not with hi-tech, with old warm vintage gear, not super expensive tubes or designer amps, but with just good equipment from the sixties, and seventies and finding me an amp that is compatible with my B&W speakers has been a fascinating pursuit, executed by circumstance. First my NAD went down, then my temporary Yamaha replacement went down too, and the perfect replacement that I bought ‘the Grundig’ has something wrong with the phono channel and stereo man 3 (I don’t know his name) is still on his hols, and he took his ‘fix it’ skills with him. All this for the forgotten art of sitting on a couch with the album cover on your lap, listening to a record on a great sound system, the whole album, both sides - no phone in the room - only phono.
