It’s something of an In Deep weekend between this Friday and Monday, and it will be an In Deep day a week from today, all will be revealed as these days approach but today was an In Deep trip to the post office to send out CD copies of the Blueburst record released on the in Deep label and getting lots of good feedback which is leading to people wanting a physical copy on either CD or vinyl. Today I sent out 9 CDs, 2 to Germany, 4 to England, 1 to Wales, 1 to Scotland and 1 to Cornwall. Brexit meant I had to put customs forms on all but the German ones, nice work peoples.
The French girls didn’t arrive today, late planes and busy schedules, soundchecks, gigs, lunch, dinner and chat. It is tricky getting touring musicians here, their days are full already and you have to know how good it is to come here, which you don’t till you’ve been. I was moving some frames and unpacked shelves into the back to make it more presentable, but it also works for me, having one room that needs sorting where others are organised.
I came back from the post office via the psychedelic psupermarket and its wonderful colourful shapes, via the lamp shop (nope). I had a sesh with Valley Of Salt NJ Brian as his record is imminent. Over mashed potatoes I watched Man U/Leicester completely legitimise VAR in the last 30 seconds of the game. Bob In Boston next, and then Space Summit Jed in Minneapolis. Mixes for Bob’s band’s covers are coming for their website so they can get gigs playing all that indie stuff you know and love. Next, I wrote an hour's worth of ideas and chord progressions for Jed to take to the creative farm.

Life is lamps and there’s an intermittent one in the front. I wonder if there is ever a time when everything is working all at the same time. It’s that balance of good and evil rearing its head again. It proves its point best by making millionaires unhappy and spoiled children angry despite having everything. It’s a strange mystery, the humans and their planet, the answer out of reach.
I went to the laundromat despite having a washing machine and asked about the dryers - 2 euros for 15 minutes. In this damp weather it takes forever for things to get almost dry, almost. So I thought I’d take a bag of washing to the laundromat and in half an hour and for 4 Euros everything would be dry - have to wash it first, and then carry it there and then wait, that's the catch.
Jed told me tonight that there’s a young man called Mr Beast who is the world’s most popular youtuber and somebody asked him about Prince and he said “Who’s Prince?” This is how it goes - Stravinsky isn’t anything like Mozart but to someone who knows nothing about classical music it sounds the same. Like Black Sabbath and Pink Floyd sounded the same to my mum. To Mr Beast there’s no difference between Loverboy and Captain Beefheart, it’s all off his radar, welcome to the future trampling all over your past.
Music today has been Blueburst, Significance (2023) Craig Miller’s project that he has generously invited me to be part of in a co-guitar-ring, some co-songwriting and co-production role. The feedback has been tremendous and as it is In Deep week, I thought it might be a good idea to draw your attention to it one more time.

I am seriously considering buying you a switch from Amazon, and then coming to Porto to fix your damn lamp myself. And then I can help stack your shelves.
Blueburst is great ! Everybody should get a physical copy of it, even Mr Beast !
