I didn’t make it out today as there was an artwork meeting, a release meeting that incorporated the final masters and release plans, and a confab about how the hell you do it these days? It’s the question everyone is asking, the answer so far is, no-one knows unless you are 19 or massive, all of us on the lower scale of ‘in between’ are struggling unless we have seven jobs - I’m so coming back as a plumber. But I’m lucky, I’m making records, working with people, discussing releases and have support and thank you everyone for that. The other thing we concluded was that the way things operate today changes quickly, so as soon as you figure something out, the rules have changed and the last plan doesn’t apply anymore. I must get that faucet fixed.
Outside in the warmwinterwonderland (www) it’s a little chilly but not cold and they are furiously putting up the Christmas lights in every square and all down the major streets in time for Sunday light up (I presume it’s December 1st). Christmas trees here are different to northern European ones, because the ones I know simply don’t grow here. I was struggling to find a picture of one but they are broader with less branches. I miss the smell of the pine needles at Christmas and I used to love hoovering them up as the tree shed.
Meetings were long and satisfying, so I missed the first half of Sporting/Arsenal but as they were winning 0-3. I decided to watch the second half of Bayern/PSG who were winning 1-0, the lower scoring games are often more exciting. It ended 1-0, I probably should have watched Man City /Feyenoord - City were winning 3-0 at half time and it ended in a draw - what’s going on at Man City? It can’t just be Rodri’s absence. I apologise to non-football following readers. Liverpool /Real Madrid tomorrow, Liverpool/ Man City next Sunday.
Sesh with Jeff In Kent, Ohio and another meeting about the artwork with Mike in Chicago. Earlier in between all this I did some rehearsing with a 6 string acoustic instead of a 12 string acoustic, so I might try using that guitar for some songs at the Live Stream on Saturday, just for a change. I also listened to two sides of the new double Godspeed You Black Emperor album, sides B & C. They just cancelled the rest of their tour due to illness, what a shame.
Whilst writing later I watched the snooker - why can’t they leave the room silently when there’s another game on on the other side of the screen? Whilst writing earlier, I listened to Dylan, so today’s music was Another Side of Bob Dylan (1964). Oh my, the lyrics and the tunes too.
City's a mess but hopefully they'll rise to the occasion Sunday.
