Staying in today and trying to catch up as I approach the end of the first week in America. It’s odd, I’m so familiar with the place having been here so many times whilst having to get used to it (although Raleigh is still a msytery). But the crazy adverts on the television for drugs that cure your ailment and come with verbal suicide warnings. Baseball, basketball and American football instead of football, cricket and snooker, haha. The muffins that are twice as sweet and the need for a car. The health care costs. I heard a story (which may be apocryphal) about a fellow being hit by a car and begging the crowd that had gathered around not to call an ambulance because of the cost.
